McKenzie Bauer began her study of the violin at age 4 with her grandfather, University of Idaho Professor Emeritus LeRoy Bauer, who guided her violin studies through her high school years. She also studied with Boise’s Jill Rowley, Associate Concertmaster of the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra. A graduate of Boise’s Centennial High School, she has participated in numerous regional youth orchestras and ensembles. She was concertmaster of the Centennial Chamber Orchestra, and was selected to join the May, 2002 Suzuki Youth Orchestra of the Americas, at the Minneapolis Suzuki Association National Convention. In both 2003 and 2007, she was selected for the All-Northwest Honor Orchestra and was concertmaster of the 2005 Idaho All-State Honor Orchestra. In 2008, McKenzie entered the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studies with Dr. David Bowlin. McKenzie is grateful to her parents and grandparents for their encouragement and steadfast support, to whom she dedicates her performance today.
