Andrea Weiss began harp as a pedagogy student of Dr. Carrol McLaughlin at the University of Arizona when she was in the third grade. For the past nine years, Andrea has continued her music development as a pupil of Dr. McLaughlin. Currently, Andrea is a first-year student at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon where she is majoring in physics and engineering while continuing to pursue her harp studies. In Oregon, she is a student of Jeffery Parsons and has taken lessons with Jennifer Ironside.
Andrea enjoys ensemble playing; she performs with Willamette’s choral ensembles and is a member of the Willamette University orchestra, under conductor Hekun Wu. Andrea spent two summers at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute studying with Ann Hobson Pilot, principal harpist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. There she participated in the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra as well as the harp ensemble under the direction of Franziska Huhn.
